Saturday my Grandson came up to me and showed me page 25 of the 2009-2010 Florida Freshwater Fishing Regulation handbook which described the " Big Catch " program. He asked if I would take him fishing Sunday so he could possibly earn one. Well we went to Lake Lochloosa and long line trolled eight B&M rods lined with 6# Vicious Hi-Vis Panfish line terminated with Culprit Tassle Tail Jigs,we pulled from the north end to the south end with the wind at our backs at between 1.1 and 1.4 MPH . Varying our speed up and down seemed to be what the fish wanted getting most of our bites on the fall-(down speed),we didn't get just one "Big Catch" we got two at 14 1/2 " to qualify him for two certificates. This was done in about four hours catching about seventy five fish total and releasing all fish including the "Big Catch" This is something I wish I would have done long ago it is unbelieavable how much this means to a kid. If you don't have a boat or the equipment to take a kid fishing hire a guide. I will discount any angler that wishes to take a kid fishing and maybe get a "Big Catch" Contact me at (352)625-1180 or e-mail at: crappiefisherman@embarqmail.com
