Hemine the Hurricane...

Well the last part of August and the 1st couple days of September were a washout as Hurricane Hemine brought record amounts of rain and gusty winds for most of the week. Prior to Hemine fishing was pretty good and we had no complaints. After Hemine brought record rain fall amounts it took a couple days for the fish to get back into their normal state. The bite was tough for the first couple days after the storm, but we still managed to "bring home the bacon" as they say. Towards the end of this reporting period the Snook and Redfish have been on the mend and the bite has been fairly productive (Picture). Bait has returned in good numbers to the beach side of Anna Maria Island and the grass flats of lower Tampa Bay. September marks the opening of Snook season and we haven't landed any keepers yet but we have caught a handful that were just shy of the 28" mark (Picture). The Redfish have been showing up in larger schools. This past week we were able to stay on a couple schools and land 20 fish (Picture 1) (Picture 2). This next week we will be on the full moon and we will see better tidal movement, which in turn should be good for fishing.
