Innovative devices make Kistler rods even better

MAGNOLIA, Texas Kistler Custom Fishing Rods, handcrafted by the most experienced rod technicians in the business, has recently developed two new innovative products that will make fishing all day more enjoyable and comfortable as well as help anglers to be more efficient.

The Texas based company that introduced the original "Hook Hanger," now widely copied by many other rod manufacturers, improved upon its already great device with the revolutionary Hook Lock. Built of flexible non-corrosive composite materials, the Hook Lock incorporates a multi-functional design that temporarily holds any lure quickly, conveniently and securely while the rod is not being used to fish.

Like with the original Hook Hanger on all Kistler Rods, anglers will be able to fasten their Texas-rigs lures to their rods without pulling the soft plastic out of the precisely placed hook point. Another feature of the Hook Lock, anglers can insert any size treble hook into the strategically placed port hole specifically designed to prevent lures from springing loose while the boat is in transit.

When attaching baits to rods, most anglers tighten the line, making their rods bend. That tension creates unnecessary pressure on the rod tip and line. Often, when the lure pops off, it creates a jumble of entangled lines, baits and rods, causing headaches for every angler. Instead of making more casts and catching more fish, anglers lose valuable time untangling the mess, typically, right when the fish are biting best!

"The Hook Lock is very convenient and won't rust, even in salt water, like every other metal hook keeper," explained Trey Kistler, master rod builder and owner of Kistler Custom Fishing Rods. "The biggest benefit, though, is that it holds lures to the rods better, even when running a boat through rough water. In tests, I attached a bait to a Hook Lock and shook it like a boat bouncing in heavy waves. The bait won't come off. The dual action of the Hook Lock can tame any and all hook sizes from the tiniest drop shot finesse rigs to giant 10/0 flipping hooks."

To complement the convenience offered by the Hook Lock, Kistler also developed its Smart Grip. Like a soft glove, this cushioning device slides snuggly over the reel seat screw and lock nut and stays there, making rods much more comfortable to hold while fishing.

"On many of today's modern "non-fore grip" type rods, anglers put their fingers onto the reel seat only to find rough or sharp edges and slippery or cold metal parts," Kistler said. "With the soft cushioned Smart Grip, anglers can still rest their fingers right on the blank without coming in contact with the uncomfortable screw threads or the cold metal parts. They can now fish all day in complete comfort. If the rod is more comfortable to hold, anglers will feel more fish and enjoy their fishing experience that much more."

In addition, the Smart Grip makes it easier to tighten down or loosen reel seats because of its special design. In tests, the Smart Grip also increases the strength of reel seats griping power by 10 percent providing a rock solid fit for any type reel.

Both of these new components come standard on all of the new Kistler Z-Bone series of rods, available in more than 50 different models. For more information about Kistler Custom Rods, call 281-259-8033. On line, see www.kistlerrods.com.
