A barge carrying 900,000 gallons of heavy tar like oil, collided with a ship in the busy Houston Ship Channel. As much as 168,000 gallons has leaked and is expected to be cleaned up quickly. We are hearing reports that the spill will not affect the fishing industry too terribly bad because the oil is heavy and should not be able to damage the fish population. This is a significant spill and the Galveston Ferry remains closed for a second day. To be safe we at Vitamin Sea Charters will not be booking any trips during the next two weeks. The spill site is 700 yards offshore from the Texas City dike. Please feel free to contact us for the latest news and upcoming scheduling of trips.

We are still booking trips assuming the cleanup happens this week.
