Dolphin (Mahi-Mahi) Making A Big Spring Appearance in Florida

Recently we saw a report out of Sebastian where a fishing team caught 35 dolphin, also known as Dorado and Mahi-Mahi, along with 6 wahoo.  All the fish had some great size to them, including a beautiful 60 pound bull dolphin.  The captain and crew stated to have solid action all day and left the fish biting.  Here are some of the pictures of the credible catch:

Dolphin Mahi Mahi

Is this a sign of things to come or is this area just not fished enough to draw any conclusions?  In our opinion, the dolphin fishing this year has really picked up.  There have been several big fish reported by the weekend warriors along with the captains all along the east coast.

We look for a good summer of better sized schoolies than we have seen in the past years.  Hopefully most can practice good conservation in order to help preserve this fishery, however since dolphin are commercially caught worldwide, the recreational sector can only do so much.

Bikini Girl Fishing Charter Forced Out Of Marina

Smokin’ Em Charters of Fort Pierce Florida was told to take there business elsewhere from the local marina after operating their fishing business with women in bikini’s as the crew.  The marina argues that the family oriented marina is not suited for such a business.

The business was using women in bikinis as the mates for the charters.  We are not sure if the women were topless or just in bikini’s, but representatives of Smokin’ Em Charters said that the mates were not exposed while in the marina and were in appropriate attire for a day of fishing.  The weren’t to get into their bikinis until fully offshore.

While out fishing, the women would off all services of a typical mate and staff of the captain of the boat.  From rigging baits to pouring drinks, the women would make your fishing experience pleasurable and one to remember.

The company has been in business for eight years and would like to be back into the popular marina.

We Need Feedback

As we finish off Q1 of 2008 and enter the Spring, we would like to gather feedback from all visitors to ReelReports.com. This site has grown to an extremely large resource connecting professional fisherman with anglers across the world and we want to better the site with your feedback.

We are in the process of developing several new features, but the latest feature is the online fish weight calculator. Here you can estimate the weight of your fish based on length and girth. We find it works very well for most fish.

We also need testimonials from our authors and anglers of the site. Please submit on our contact page or comment to this post.

Thank you,

1,000 Pound Hammerhead Shark Caught In Singer Island Florida

Fisherman from South Florida headed out for a day of offshore fishing and did not expect what was about to happen. Sportfishing has grown to be a popular sport for many people in the Florida lifestyle. March is known for bringing a lot of sharks to the beaches and just offshore area. Blacktips, hammerheads, and bull sharks are known to come into the spreads of fisherman, while they are all seen from helicopters looking for bait near the beaches.

The fish took a bait that was put out by Fritz Van Der. After the fish was boated, the captain and crew went to the scales to weigh in. The scale bottomed out at 1,038 pounds, while some say it was a bit more than that. The captain never intended to kill the shark, but would rather have had a clean release and take a few pictures. Instead the fish came to the boat very gassed after the tough fight. Sharks of this size are used in science to study their behavior and other aspects of the species. The organs were also said to be flown to labs for more research.

The massive hammerhead shark caught in Singer Island, was not exactly rare, but it was extremely big and in shallow water. The biggest hammerhead record is currently 1,280 pounds.
