Bio: I have been fishing the waters in and around Wrightsville, Topsail and Carolina Beaches for over 30 years. I hold a 25Ton Master's license from the United States Coast Guard and I am a member of the American Professional Captains Association. I am certified in First Aid as well as CPR. I will use all of my knowledge and skill to put you on the fish, whether you are an experienced or a beginning angler. My goal is to see that you have the best fishing experience possible.
[Buzzard Bay,NC] Quick report!! I spent most of Mother's day with my wife and family. However, since I had the Vantage in tow, I managed to slip away late afternoon for a couple of hours of fishing (the boat ramp is only 1 block from my mother-in-laws house). The wind was still blowing, but not as bad as Saturday.
[Topsail Beach,NC] Good weather finally graced us here on the Carolina coast so today I got out to take advantage of it. I hadnít fished the North Topsail area in awhile, so I decided to see what I could find. I went to an area that I had found some fish last summer. The water was gin clear and the light winds made for a great sight fishing day.
[Cape Fear River,NC] As many of you know, I got married on Oct 10 and spent the next two weeks in Hawaii. While there, I spent one day Marlin fishing out of Kona. I didn't catch my marlin, but I did get hooked up with an approx. 400+lb Blue Marlin. My wife and I were on the bridge with the first mate when I saw the big blue crash the short left rigging and begin dumping a 130!!! It was very exciting but after about 1/2hour, the hooks pulled. Oh well, that's fishing. At least I got some time in the chair.
[Topsail Beach,NC] The rain is falling here today so it gives me a chance to catch up my fishing reports. The fishing this week has continued to be fantastic!! I have had catches of King Mackerel, Mahi Mahi, Redfish, Baracuda and more.
[Topsail Beach,NC] June is traditionally the month for Mahi (Dolphinfish) in S.E. North Carolina and though this year's run started a little later than usual, the Mahi are here!!
[Topsail Beach,NC] I hit the water at 0530 Sunday morning to do a little pre-fishing for upcoming charters this week. The wind was calm, and the water was like a mirror.
[Wilmington,NC] Even though temperatures were near 100 degrees this weekend, the fishing was pretty good. The mornings seemed to have the best action as the bite would slow down during the heat of the day.
[Wrightsville Beach,NC] On Saturday, May 17, I had the pleasure of having Gregg Boots and his family aboard for a day of fishing. Dispite slow conditions due to a passing weather front, we managed to have a good day of fishing.
[Wrightsville Beach,NC] Welcome everyone!!! It's March and like the roaring winds of March, the spring fishing is about to roar in.
[Cape Fear River,NC] Greeting to all!!!Fall fishing is in full swing and we can only expect it to get better. The water is still a little warm, but the fishing is pretty hot.
[Cape Fear River,NC] Greetings all!!!The inshore Redfish bite continues to be fantastic!! There are a lot of big Redfish scouring the creeks and flats foraging on the abundant bait fish that is in the water now.
[Wrightsville Beach,NC] Fishing along the Carolina Coast from Surf City Down to Southport is just on fire. Redfish, Speckled Trout and Flounder are the big draws in the inshore waters, while King and Spanish Mackerel, Mahi, Gray Trout and False Albacore are the big draws in the offshore waters. Wahoo are going off in the stream.
[Cape Fear River,NC] Inshore fishing is just fantastic. There are lots of over slot Redfish being caught as well as Speckled Trout, Flounder and Bluefish. The topwater bite has been really good, especially early in the morning and late in the evening.
[Wrightsville Beach,NC] Fished with Brett N. Friday afternoon. We were quickly excited while heading to our first Redfish hole.
[Wrightsville Beach,NC] The King Mackerel bite has really picked up with lots of fish being caught within 10nm of the beach. Hard and live bottom areas are holding tons of Sardines and Cigar minnows and the Kings are there feasting.
[Wrightsville Beach,NC] The great Dolphin bite of the SE NC coast continues.
[Wrightsville Beach,NC] The Dolphin Bite off Wrightsville Beach, NC continues to be very good. Dolphin have been caught as close as 10nm this week, however, the better bite still seems to be in the 20-25nm range in the clearer, bluer water.
[Wrightsville Beach,NC] Fishing this past weeek has had the Dolphin bite doing really well. Dolphin have moved in as close as 15nm on out to the stream with bigger fish being caught in the stream. Look for some good catches inside of 25nm in the next couple of weeks. Live bait, dead cigar minnows, ballyhoo and natural squid baits are all working well.
[Topsail Beach,NC] Saturday I had the pleasure of joining my buddies Randy and Chip in our annual spring fishing tournament.
[Wrightsville Beach,NC] Saturday I had the pleasure of fishing with Kevin H. of Wilmington. Kevin is new to the area and was looking to learn a few things about fishing the area.
[Wrightsville Beach,NC] Fishing along the coast from Topsail Beach down to Southport is really turning on. The water has continued to warm and the fishing is just getting hot.
[Wrightsville Beach,NC] Today we got into an incredible Redfish Bite. For the full story, read on.
[Wrightsville Beach,NC] Today we caught King Mackerel, Dolphin and had 3 shots at Sailfish. Read on for the full report.
[Wrightsville Beach,NC] The weather is hot and so is the fishing. Offshore the Kings and Dolphin are still biting. More and more Sailfish are being caught as well. Spanish Mackerel are thick on the beach. Try trolling clark spoons or casting to the schools for these tasty fish.
