[Lake Fork,TX] Clearing up Rumors about health issues.
Weekly Lake Fork Report (3/01/2007)
[Lake Fork,TX] Fishing Spring Patterns. North end of lake. Well the fishing this week has been GOOD if you were in the right place. The wind was not our friend as a good friend of mine once told me it was. It blew and blew.
Wake Tiki Stick Fished Weightless Is A Great Bait (2/22/2007)
[Lake Fork,TX] Fishing lipless cranks jigs and spinner baits. The Wave Tiki Stick fished weightless or Texas rigged is another good bait. Flipping a jig this time of year is a big fish producer. Work in and around every bush or stand of timber and stump field.
Lipless Crank and Spinner Baits In Staging Areas (2/15/2007)
[Lake Fork,TX] Fishing staging areas with lipless crank and spinner baits. Well, this week was a tough one for the fisherman. The air temps and strong winds have kept even the most avid fisherman on the trailer. The water temp has still held at the 44 to 49 degree mark. The fish are moving to the staging areas. This will be the pattern till the spawn starts. The fish will pull up on points and secondary points and as the water starts to move into the 50's they will scatter out over the flats and backs of the coves.
Recent Cold Snap On Lake Fork (2/09/2007)
[Lake Fork,TX] Well, the warm weather we had earlier in the week was just GREAT. But the recent cold snap has brought us back to reality. The water temp has been around 43 to 46. It is according to where you are at the time. The North end and major creeks are still muddy to off color. For some reason the past week the Sabine opened a gate and let water out for a couple of days. We are now 2 foot low.
Winter Blast Still Here On Lake Fork (2/01/2007)
[Lake Fork,TX] Well, the winter blast is still on here at Lake Fork. The lake Is steadily inching up. BUT!!! The water temp is going down. 43 to 46 is the range you will be working with if you come down this weekend. This weekend is calling for another cold blast of artic air this weekend. I would recommend lipless crankbaits, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, and jigging spoons out deep.
Good News On Lake Fork (1/25/2007)
[Lake Fork,TX] Fishing main lake points and deep humps for bass and crappie. Well, I got some good news. As of yesterday the lake was 1'9 low and water is still coming in. With the rain coming this weekend it may fill the lake. The back of the major creeks are muddy and cold. Water was 41 to 44 in Birch and 44 to 47 on the main lake.
Deep Freeze On Lake Fork This Week (1/18/2007)
[Lake Fork,TX] Working main lake Points and deep humps and roadbeds. Well, the deep freeze was on here at Lake Fork this week. The air temps never got above freezing several days in a row. The water temp fell to the mid to low 40's.
Lipless Crankbaits In RED Producing Best! (1/12/2007)
[Lake Fork,TX] Well, the weather has been warm this week. But the weekend stands to show us that winter is still here. I hope the rain will be plentiful for all. The wind this week was a factor in where you fished. The main lake was almost off limits. There is still a lot of stained water in the backs of some creeks. I have been working points and half way back in coves.
Large and Small Spoons Working Well On Bass and Crappie (1/04/2007)
[Lake Fork,TX] Fishing deep water with jigs and minnows for crappie and jigging spoons for bass. Well, the rain has finally come to the Lake Fork area. I only hope the lake will fill up before the spring. This week the water temp was in the low 50's. The crappie were biting like crazy. 36 to 41 foot was the magic depth. Small jigs and minnows have been the best baits. Work the baits slowly
Crappie Are Stacking Up in Lake Fork (12/29/2006)
[Lake Fork,TX] Fishing jigging spoons and small jigs on main lake points and lipless crank baits and jigs around heavy cover.
Fising Lake Fork Roadbeds With Jigging Spoons (12/21/2006)
[Lake Fork,TX] Fishing main lake points, humps and roadbeds with jigging spoons and small jigs. Well, the week has been slow with Christmas right around the corner. Most have shopping on their minds and fishing is way back on the back burner. We have had a mist that lasted about two days but no rain to amount to anything. The lake still is holding about 5.5 low. The water temp has remained at low 50's to the upper 40's. The deep bite has still been my best pattern. Jigging spoons, small jigs, and tail spinners have been the best baits. The shallow bite has been fair on lipless crank baits.
Winter Fishing Lake Fork Over Deep Main Humps (12/15/2006)
[Lake Fork,TX] Winter fishing over deep Main humps, roadbeds, and Main Lake Points. The shallow bite was about the way back in the mouths on main lake creeks. We flipped every piece of wood and it took many flips before you got a bite. Some bites were just mush. You will have to stay in tune with your line. If you are not paying attention you will probably not catch a fish.
Fall and Winter Patterns For Lake Fork (12/07/2006)
[Lake Fork,TX] Late Fall and winter patterns for Lake Fork. Fishing Jigs, spoons, Carolina and Texas Rigs, and lipless crankbaits
Ring Fries, Wave Worm Tiki Sticks, and Zig Zags Work Best Over Grass (11/30/2006)
[Lake Fork,TX] Winter fishing before a major cold front Patterns and presentations for this type of fishing. Well, it is hard to believe we were in tee shirts yesterday and catching bass right and left. The fish were reacting to the approaching front. We caught all our fish on lipless crank baits from one area about 100 yards long. All this action will vanish as the temp has dropped to the low 30s to the upper 20s.
Fishing Lake Fork After Cold Front (11/23/2006)
[Lake Fork,TX] Fishing Lake Fork After a major cold front. Fishing shallow and deep. Well, the week started out gang busters. We had 42 on Tuesday and I thought the fishing report for the end of the month was on track. It read that the last two weeks of November would be a banner two weeks. Well, Wrong!!!This week was a tough one for me. After all the fish on Tuesday and then the bottom fell out.
Fishing Jigs and Weightless Baits In Lake Fork (11/16/2006)
[Lake Fork,TX] Fishing Jigs and weightless baits in shallow and deep water. The fishing has really been unstable. Patterns have changed quickly. The weather has done the same. We still have not had rain enough to do any good for the lake. The lake is still falling and is about 5.5 low. This time of year with all the fronts coming down the patterns will change daily or during the day.
Texas and Carolina Rigs Working Best (11/10/2006)
[Lake Fork,TX] Shallow and deep water patterns using Carolina and Texas rigs. Tail spinner and spoon fishing over deep humps.
Winter Fishing Lake Fork With Spoons and Tail Spinners (11/03/2006)
[Lake Fork,TX] Winter fishing on Lake Fork with spoons and tail spinners. Main lake points and humps have been good starting areas. The grass has held some fish early with top water and spinner baits. The Lake Fork Tackle Twitch worm and Zig Zag and the Wave Tiki Stick have been good fished weightless and wacky style over and around grass. The weekend calls for clear on Saturday and rain Sunday. But the way things have gone it will probably miss us again.
Flipping Jigs Along Timbeed Creek Channel Lake Fork (10/27/2006)
[Lake Fork,TX] Working grass and creeks with soft plastic worms. Flipping jigs along timbeed creek channels. Well, the fishing has been up and down this week with all the weather changes. The early part of the week the fishing was good and then the rain and wind came and slowed the bite for me. Thursday was back to normal and then last nite this very windy front came in and the temps went back down.
Spinner Baits and Wacky Worms On Lake Fork (10/19/2006)
[Lake Fork,TX] Fall fishing on Lake Fork with Spinner baits and wacky worms. Well, the cool fronts are coming in like they should. The only problem is they are not bringing enough rain. We received 1&3/4 inches of rain last Monday but that nothing for the lake. The lake is still 5 plus inches low. The water temp was 66 degrees this week when I was fishing. The fishing was a little tough this week.
Working Weightless Baits For Bass Over Grass (10/12/2006)
[Lake Fork,TX] Well, this has been a wild week. Cool fronts after another. The weather has been great this week except for the one day of rain and that was wonderful. We can't complain about rain with all the low water conditions. The long range forecast says it will be a wet winter. Great. Maybe this will get all our lakes full again. The fishing has been a little up and down with the temp swings.
Birch Creek Lake Fork Bass Fishing (10/05/2006)
[Lake Fork,TX] Top water and wacky worm fishing the grass. Well, the weather has been back to warm and hot. The fishing has been the same. The only problem is it is hot one day and the next day the fish want bite. I had one trip this week and we struggled on a half a day trip and then the next day they were all over the place.
Lake Fork Deep Water Bass Fishing (9/28/2006)
[Lake Fork,TX] Deep water and Wacky worm fishing. Top water around grass.Well, the cool weather continues to be a welcome site. The big problem is the fronts are not bringing rain. The lake is almost 5 feet low. The low water has not hurt the fishing but has made the lake dangerous to run. The boat lanes are the best areas to run your boat. The short cuts can be very dangerous.
