We launched at 8:30 at the Konocti Vista Casino. It's sunny, but still quite cold. Before we take off, we decide to make a few casts in the harbor. I gave Charlie the front of the boat, as he was making casts to the deeper pieces wood ahead of the boat, while I was flipping a jig way up in the wood. After only a few minutes of fishing, Charlie caught a nice 5.5 pounder on a Baby Brush Hog fished on a shakey head. We bounced around and fished a few more spots that had deeper wood that was located right outside spawning areas. I caught a 3.5 on a jig, and we both miss a couple bites. The pattern seemed to die, as the sun got higher. Around 11, I got slammed on an Osprey Swimbait. After only having in on for five or so seconds, it came off. I was a little pissed, because let me tell you, it was a toad. We work the tule points from the casino to the Lakeport trailer park. I was throwing an Osprey and Charlie was using the Basstrix, both in the light hitch color. We managed lots of bites, but most were just hitting the tail, or just whacking the baits with their heads. Two of them got hooked though, and both were 3.5 pounders. We made our way north and fished the tule bank between Lakeport and Rodman, but the wind is blowing the wrong way and the fish weren't active. At 3pm we headed back to where we were and caught a 5.2 on the Basstrix. Right after that bass was caught, the north wind really started to pick up, and the temperature dropped 10 degree. We headed back up near the mouth of Rodman to now get out of the wind. The shadows caused by the trees and the sun being a bit lower in the sky, turned the fish on a bit, and we managed two more bass, 2.5 and 4 pounds. At the end of the day, we had 6 bass with the largest five just over 22 pounds.
