I apologize for lack of recent reports but will try to do better. Recent bay conditions have been difficult for sight fishers which is my passion, but with a little sun and a very quick delivery success is attainable. I have been drifting the east grass/sand line with some good success. Using flies and soft plastics you can have a good day with quick accurate deliveries. Some very large trout have been lurking around but are very hard to fool.

I have a new/rebuilt 26'Panga that is set up for fly and light tackle fishing as well as deep dropping w/bait and trolling. I recently spent a day offshore of the Port Mansfield jetties and had a great day with red snapper and triggerfish. Light winds and sunshine allowed us comfortable rides to the snapper grounds. We fished in about 60-90ft of water with squid and cut mullett. Released lots of undersized snapper but managed 10 keepers for 3 people in state waters. Water temp. was 74. As water continues to warm, tarpon, bonita, king & Spanish mackerel, jacks, etc. will start to show up. I will follow the fish when they show.

Fish Species: redfish, trout, gulf red snapper, triggerfish
Bait Used: flies, lures in bay squid, mullett in gulf
Tackle Used: fly and spinning
Method Used: drifting
Water Depth: 1-2 ft. water in bay 60-90ft in gulf
Water Temperature: 74
Wind Direction: ENE
Wind Speed: 4-12
