Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 2/9/08
Water Temperature 47 to 50 degrees Main Channel
Water Temperature 50 to 55 degrees Creeks
With the lake water gaining color and warming over the last week, I must say I had a disappointing week on the water. Fishing was tough most of the week for my clients and me; the bites were just hard to come by. We just had a few bites everyday, and with the activity this slow it was a discouraging week on Guntersville.
The only positive this week was the few bites we did get were for the most part good quality fish, with a 7.2 bass being the biggest fish of the week. The big fish was caught on a Punisher Ghost colored spinner bait with a chartreuse trailer oz. The few others caught were mainly caught on rattle baits and Mister Twister 4 inch finesse worm. We also fished Tight-Line Jigs, jerk baits and crank baits.
I truly believe that the up-coming week should be substantially better than this past week, the back coves are warming as we have found some back water in the upper 50s in water temperature, there is bait fish showing up in the coves and creeks, and this should equal some great pre-spawn fishing.
Pre-Spawn fishing is just about here, its time to get back to the lake and test your bass fishing skills.
