Kathy and Larry Gallagher, a lovely couple from Pennsylvania, decided to charter the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale. They were in town visiting the Calvary Church here in Fort Lauderdale Winds were out of the east north east at 10 mph, seas running 2-3 ft. with blue skies.

On the way out we stopped to purchase a dozen live Goggle Eyes from T & T Bait. Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale 1.8 miles from shore. We started off trolling with two plainers down and four surface baits. With an east northeast wind, it pushed the blue waters into the 2nd reef. As we trolled around we picked away at a couple of Mahi Mahi and Kingfish.

I set the kite up in 180 ft. of water on top of one of Fort Lauderdale's artificial wrecks. We put two Kites out with two live Goggle Eyes from each kite. The Mahi Mahi's found the live baits immediately - a double header - bull and Cow. Kathy and Larry did a great job bringing in the pair of Mahi Mahi's. We reset the Kites again and the black shadow appeared. The Sailfish immediately grabbed the live Goggle Eye and the fight began. This was Kathy's fish!!! The Sailfish came out of the water doing 360 jumps. Kathy did a great job. After a 15 minute battle, the Sailfish threw the hook.

With a total catch of two Kingfish and six Mahi Mahi's it was time to return to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon to relax on the ride back to the dock at Bahia Mar, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316. We fillet the Kingfish and Mahi Mahi's to be shared with the parishioners at the Calvary Church.
