Mattern Guide Service on Lake Fairfield

Hello Everybody,

Psalm 9; Verses 1-2: I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart: I will show forth all thy marvelous works. I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name. O Most High.

Well it was good to be on Lake Fairfield today. Water temps were up at 65 degrees on most of the Lake.Bass fishing was slow till about noon with an occassional Bass on wacky rigged Nichols sinkers in Green Pumpkin Pepper. Bass were caught up to about 2 lbs. on the sinker.

Went to a Carolina-rigged Nichols creature bait in Watermelon Red and began to catch keeper Bass up to about 4.3 lbs. Some really good Bass were caught this way fishing the first break lines off main Lake Points in about 8 feet to about 12 feet of water. But was still really a slow bite. Then we went to shallow running crankbaits in shad patterns and begin to put some Big Bass in the Boat up to 6 lbs. They were on the wood in about 6 feet of water.

As Sun got up and it warmed up I went to a Medium diving crankbait in shad pattern and that's when we caught alot of Big Bass. One of the Biggest this year in Lake Fairfield over 7 lber. All fish were released and on those crankbaits we caught over 20 Bass over 4 lbs. with 4 over 5 lbs. It was like a light came on at 1:00 PM and we went to a little deeper crankbait.

We ended up catching some really nice Bass swimming a Watermelon-Chartruse Belley Ribbit Frog near banks this evening. Got some great pictures and all the Bass were released. No Redfish today but some guys were at the discharge and caught a couple of nice redfish chunking a white slab.

When Bass are off the plastics be sure and go to crankbaits it could be one of those best days of your life. God bless and Keep ya'll.
