Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 1/14/12

The colder weather sent the bass deeper this past week on Lake Guntersville, for the first time this winter I can actually say that the bass jumped into a winter pattern. The cold rainy days this past week had us fishing 20 to 30 ft. off ledges and deeper points.

The good news was with some patience and the ability to hold on a spot long enough to work your bait did result in some pretty good catches each day on the water. We did have to work slow and keep your bait in the strike zone for as long as possible to get a bite. Most of our fish came on Tight-Line football jig in ¾ oz size and black and blue in color with a heavy Lake Fork chunk trailer.

The key was deep structure like stumps or rocks and then you had to stay on your trolling motor hard to keep the boat positioned. The heavy rains had the water up and TVA was pulling water hard and you worked to keep your boat in position.
