Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Top Shot Sportfishing Charter Boat and Capt. Zsak

Charlie Gordon from Massachusetts, along with Marissa Baker from Connecticut chartered the Top Shot Sportfishing Charter Boat team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at the Bahia Mar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316. Charles was interested in catching some eating fish.

Twenty minutes after leaving the dock, fishing lines were at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale in 120 ft. of water, 1.8 miles from shore. We started off trolling with two #8 plainers down, one with a 3 ½ blue reflector drone spoon and the other with a pink and blue sea witch in front of a double hooked Bonito strip. For surface baits we went with two Ballyhoos and two Bonito strips. We trolled the reefs zig-zagging in and out from 100 to 300 ft. of water. The two anglers took turns bringing in a total of four Bonitos, three Tunas and one Skip Jack Tuna. We decided to make a drop over a wreck in 250 ft. of water with live Bullets. Charlie was our first angler and he reeled in a 35 lb. Amberjack – pictures were taken and the fish was released. Next up was Marissa and she reeled in a 44 lb. Amberjack, which was also released.

From there we decided to do some live bait fishing with a full rack out of Bullets, fishing on the edge of the drop off. Right rigger!!! A good explosion on the bait!! Charles hopped into the fighting chair to enjoy the fun. After a twenty minute fight, our mate, Dave, gaffed a Black Fin Tuna weighing 26 lbs. – very nice fish, Charlie – great job!!

It was time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Mar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316, while watching the plasma TV. At the dock, Dave filet the Tuna for that night's dinner.
