Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Top Shot Sportfishing Charter Boat and Capt. Zsak

David Taul, along with his three sons, Gabe, Derek and Patrick, and his daughter, Macie, chartered the Top Shot Sportfishing charter boat team to do some deep sea charter boat sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. We had blue skies and good winds today – a typical Chamber of Commerce day.

On our way out, we stopped at T&T bait to purchase a half dozen life Goggle Eyes. Goggle Eyes are prime live bait fish – the plan was to do some kite fishing using the Goggle Eyes for bait later on in the fishing charter. Fifteen minutes from there, lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles off shore. If you venture off another ¼ of a mile, you will find yourself in 500 ft. of water due to our extreme drop off.

We started out trolling with two #8 plainers down and four surface baits. Almost immediately the anglers started catching Bonitos – each angler taking turns reeling in their Bonitos. They are not edible fish, but they are good fighting fish.

From there I trolled south of Fort Lauderdale for an hour and found a good body of blue water with current. We put out two kites with 3 live Goggle Eyes and one Bonito bait all the way down in 150 ft. of water looking for a larger fish such as a Grouper or a Shark. We had good action with the live bait fishing – the anglers caught one large Kingfish and three large Bonitos. All of a sudden the bottom rod went off – Gabe was our angler and he hopped into the fighting chair. The tug of war began – after five minutes of fighting the fish, the fish pulled the hook. The action of the fight led me to believe it was a Shark.

It was time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
