Sam Rayburn: Well Bass fishing is good on Big Sam with alot of different patterns catching Bass. Poppers are working as well as frogs in leopard colors like chartruse/white mixes fished around pepper or pencil or hydrilla beds early as well as the Nichols White and Chartruse spinnerbait.
Hydrilla beds are now exposed and the edges have produced some Bass up to 6 lbs. with a whopper of 9 lbs. comming in this week in one of the tournaments. Big Sam is always able to produce some real hawgs. Wacky rigged Nichols Salty Mother sinker or Phantoms Stinko in watermelon reds and Green Pumpkin colors caught some good bags this week. Texas rigged Phantom Stink Hogs produced some of my Biggest Bass this week with fish up to 7.5 lbs. Good colors were Laminated Watermelon and Chartruse and Watermelons.
Water temps were in upper 80's and the water gates were open at the Dam and the water level has gone down about 2-3 feet. Carolina rigged flukes and lizards fished around points and drop offs acounted for some of the huge Bass taken this week in the Bass Tournaments.
Average days have been about 20-25 keepers with Bass up to 6 lbs.and alot of fun watching the Eagles fly overhead and all the scenic views Big Sam offers.
