SATURDAY, JUNE 20th

Today I had the pleasure of fishing with some really wonderful people, Benny and Jill and Seth and Hillary, from Mississippi and Alabama.

We left Lafitte Harbor Marina at 6:00am and headed out to the Little Lake/ Turtle Bay area, where we have been doing really well with Redfish for the last few weeks. On our first stop we only caught one keeper red and a one undersize red. I decided to go and try another area that we have been doing well catching Redfish, and it turned out to be the honey hole. Jill and Hillary hooked a double not long after we stopped the boat, only to have Jill's huge red get off just before I could get it in the net. She was very upset, and after we teased with her and a little kidding around, she did manage to catch another red that measured 28 inches. The first red Hillary hooked was a 29 ½ inch beauty that she was really proud of. Seconds later, Benny hooked a nice 27 inch red that we put in the box as well. It did not take long before we had our limit of 5 big Redfish over 27 inches, and were hoping for smaller fish we could actually keep. Seth caught a few really reds as well. There were a few times we had 4 Redfish on at once, this is always fun to watch, while everyone scrambles around the boat trying to keep their lines from getting tangled with one another. And I have to say, these ladies sure gave the guys a run for their money on this trip, Jill and Hillary put a bunch of Redfish in the boat. At 10:45am we had a limit of 25 Redfish, 3 Black Drum and releasing another 10 to 12 reds that were over 27 inches that we could not keep to fight another day. After catching our limit of Redfish, we decided to go out to Barataria Bay and try to catch a few Speckled Trout, only to find the tide at a slack and the trout bite kind of slow. We boated 10 Speckled Trout before heading back to the dock to clean fish. All in all we had a great day of fishing, and as always this was New Orleans Fishing at Its Best!

We caught all the Redfish on H&H gold spoons, and 30lb PowerPro line. The Trout were caught on Glow H&H Beetles with a ¼ 0z jig head fishing tight line around the oilfield platforms in Barataria Bay.

I want to thank Benny, Jill, Hillary and Seth for booking their trip with myself Capt. Scott Poche`, and Crescent City Fishing Charter Inc, and I look forward to fishing with you all in the future.
