Hot fishing is going for steelies from Wheatley. With only 3 plus wks before the action comes to a halt it is time to make the trip. For many who have never fished this area before the action can be fast and furious. I fished Wheatley Wed and today Fri for 3-4 hrs both days and hooked up with over 20 bows both times. Once I locate fish and bait on my Lowrance X-26 my jobs gets easier. Finding fish that want to eat is sometimes the toughest part. Trusting your electronics is a huge factor. I have been running the Walker Downriggers at 25-45 down with the best colors being, Monkey Puke, Orange Crush and Oil Slick.

Musky fishing has been OK with some fish being caught in 13-15 fow off the Puce River. Try running $9 bass and Olive frog. Look for some big fish as this year seems to be producing some fatties.

Bass fishing continues to be good in the deeper areas 10-15 fow near underwater rock humps. We actually caught 2 big smallies while trolling for muskies this past wk in 15 fow.

Walleye fishing keeps on rolling on both LSC and Lake Erie. Whether you are trolling spoons, cranks or harnesses on Erie limits are still being taken from Colchester to Leamington. Walleyes are also being caught by the steelhead fishermen out of Wheatley.

At this time of yr walleyes can still be caught be jiggers on the Detroit River near the many islands. Try fishing the drop offs from 15-30 fow.

Last wk I had the chance to go flipping with K-Dawg on some awesome bodies of water and I was not disappointed. Karl put me on some big largies throwing a Strike King jig and 3X trailer. It was amazing to watch his baits enter the water like an olympic diver-No splash and hitting the tightest of spots. Thanks K-Dawg!

Enjoy the long wknd.
