Well it looks like we got some more fresh water in East Bay. I wasn't out Sunday or Saturday for that matter do to me moving into Crystal Beach and closer to my boat. I did get some reports from East Bay and they weren't good for bait or Trout. I did get some good reports from Galveston Bay and from the reports it looks like the fresh water has moved some Trout around. Dollar has heated up again and so has the point of Bolivar as of Sunday morning. Hold on a little now, if you're coming to Bolivar and want bait it's not here. I do look for the bait shops to be hitting it hard this week and stocking the tanks back up for the coming weekend.

Ok lets get to the fishing part, we could make a rebound this week if all goes well in East Bay if not we may have top do some running. I will be checking out the south shoreline on my way west. Peppers should be checked out along with Little Hanna's both produced last time the fresh water hit us the first of July. If you're coming from the dike hit Dollar and some of the other areas around it. Once the water looks a little better I'll be check out Tom-Tom's and Big Hanna's both have been holding Trout before the rain hit. This time of year the Bolivar Wells and around Fort Travis have been producers. In any matter stick with it we've had this happen before and it got better.

With the rain past for now I'll be hitting it all week if the water is fishable.

If bait is hard to find go by and pick up Berkely's hottest Bait and that's Gulp Power Bait in the 3" size. You can fish it like live bait under a cork or free lining working it isn't a big matter.

As for the classes I've been doing I'm still doing them mainly in the afternoon weekday or weekends. The classes cover all of East Bay from the Point of Bolivar to Smith Point and back to Rollover Pass and everything in between, which will take you through the fall fishing and into the winter months. These are private classes done by appointment, one on one or with a fishing buddy. I will be covering it all from fishing locations to bait riggings. The first Half hour will be at the dock marking up your map, once that's covered we will be hitting the water marking fishing spots (G.P.S. locations will be given) and when I like to fish them and how I fish them. This is a no holds bar class. I won't be mixing people unless you put a group together and then it needs to be only up to 3 persons. I'm doing this for a one-on-one so each person will get the most out of it. Give me a call to set up a date for your class or if you have any questions.

Marinas open on Bolivar, Crystal Canal Bait is open around 5:30a.m. and the tanks are full of croaker and some shrimp. Like always they have bulk ice for $2.00 a 5 gal. bucket I am back running out of there again. If you want to call their number is 409-684-6624 and are located about 5 miles East of Sievers cut and 3 miles West of the Stingaree Cut. Bluewater Bait Camp is also holding some great bait on a steady basis. They are holding croaker and shrimp, they also have some nice table shrimp. Ice is sold by 5 gal. bucket and is $2.50 their phone number is 409-684-2248. To get to them go 2.4 miles East of Sievers Cut and look for the boat sign on the intercoastal they're up in the Bluewater Subdivision.

I want to let everyone know there is a new Tackle shop on Bolivar Pen. In Crystal Beach, Seaside Bait & Tackle @ 2590 Hwy 87, their phone number is 409-684-1889 and they sell fishing lis. They have a lot of the basic tackle along with a plastics bar plus 2 walls of Plastics and Hard Baits, jig heads etc. A s of next week they will be carring Rubberback lures. They are open Wednesday-Sunday 6am-5pm.

I would like to introduce a couple businesses in Crystal Beach that help me out and need to be looked at if your in the area staying or if you have a house down here. The first is "Paradise Cart Rentals" They rent and sell new and used golf carts and also have a great repair shop if you already have one. You can't spend any time on the beach without a golf cart, they're great and fun for adults and kids. Paradise is located @ 1900 Hwy 87 which is just east of the light at Crystal Beach Drive a block or so. If you would like sales, repair or rental info you can reach them at 409-684-5230. They do take reservations for carts and will deliver on rentals over 2 days.

Now for the second business and it's Crystal Canal RV Park and they're located at 1300 Monkhouse Dr. They have on the water and off water RV sites, covered and uncovered with 30 and 50 amp service at each site and cable. If you're on the water your boat can be right at your trailer. The park is first class with a bathhouse and boat ramp. They offer daily, weekly and monthly rates year round and they're right across the canal from Crystal Canal Bait Camp. You can reach them at 409-684-0268 or 1-800-619-6373.

Well until next week....Be safe and watch the weather.....Capt. David Harris
