A wonderful week of normal winter weather has proven to be what anglers and snowmobilers want. The ice on the main lakes is finally safe and very little slush to contend with. Anglers can now venture to any of their favorite holes and set up.

Well we had quite a week of temperature fluctuations. We experienced a 60 degree swing, -30 degrees last weekend and 31 above today, Sunday, January 27, 2008. Most of the focus is now on walleyes, as pike have moved out of the shallows for the most part.

The walleye and its related species seem to favor either side of 30’. A couple good accessible areas at the entrance to Ash River from Kabetogama. The deep structures out from Lost Lake and reef edges in the 30’ range.
