Seward Adventure Charters is on top of the leader board for the Seward Jackpot Halibut Tournament. Their fish topped the scales at 251.7 pounds! The previous leader was 189. The inclement weather for the first half of June had kept the weights down but a week or so ago it broke and the sizes started coming up.

The crew, Captain Jj Robinson and his able deckhand Justin Stegall, took 5 clients out today and decided to push through the snotty 5 footers and find a protected area to soak some bait. Once they were on anchor they put down a bunch of scent and their tackle and waited it out. After an hour or so the halibut started hitting but nothing bigger than 89 pounds. One client was insistent that the crew was "doing it all wrong" and wanted them to move the boat to another location. Captain Jj and Justin kept telling him that this is a big fish spot and patience is a necessity. After about 3 hours the big fish hit and Captain Jj and Justin used their professional skills to calm the clients and safely boat the "HOG".

Once back at the docks while the fish was being weighed and pictures were being taken eveyone congratulated Jj for "waiting it out".

This story was told to me by Jj and my son, Justin, over several phone calls during the excitement of getting the fish off the boat, weighed and pictures. I will have more details like anglers name and pictures to add to this report soon. Stay tuned! Captain James
