Mattern Guide Service on Sam Rayburn

Hello Everybody,

Colossians 1: Verses 13 & 14 : Who has delivered us from the power of darkness, and has translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son: In whom we have redemption through His Blood, even the forgiveness of sins.

Well I was Guiding one of my clients and sponsors Yesterday on Big Sam. Mr. Jeff Friend of Friendly Custom Rods. He had made me another great rod and daylight found us, with great expectations on the Lake.

We started out fishing Nichiols spinnerbaits and Phantom Tackle Stinko worms and the water temps were at about 67 at daylight. We caught about 12 Bass up to about 2 lbs. Seemed like smaller fish were in the buck brush. The Lake was full, oh what a sight to see Big Sam at Full stage and the water in the buck brush and willows. A flippers dream.

At about noon I moved to us to an area that holds some really good Bass and with the warming temps for 3 days a a cold front pushing towards us what happened to us next was almost unbelievable. Bass began to go on the feed bag and not small fish but 3-5 lb. Bass from about noon to 4:30 we caught about 80 Bass. I know that sounds like a fish story but it is true. Bass were gorging on shad before the cold front hit and Bass were going crazy.

I was throwing a shad pattern Nichols spinnerbait and Jeff was putting one together to match the one I was throwing after a few experiments He had a bait similar to the Nichols bait I was using. The night before I had gotten a sample spinnerbait from Mr. David Nichols, Owner of Nichols Lures in the mail. It was the one I caught almost 50 Bass myself on.

Bass were feeding by creek channels in about 2-5 feet of water. It was one of the greatest trips in my life. If you have not tried Nichols lures you owe it to yourself to try them. They are excellent. I have tried the creature baits and emptied the bag then I tried the salty mother sinker and emptied the bag hooking and landing Bass on the Lakes I have been fishing now the spinnerbaits have proven to be the best spinnerbait I have ever tried.

I know water temps have probably dropped today after the cold front but If you slow down and throw horizontal baits such as rattle traps and spinnerbaits and crankbaits you can increase your limits.

We released all fish to fight again another day.

If you would like more info on the Nichols lures call Dave Nichols at 903-589-8100 and put your order in for a catalog or just talk to Dave He will be glad to help you on to the great spinnerbaits, Jigs, and plastics He is putting out there for the tournament angler as well as the Week end Bass fisherman.

BE SURE TO MENTION MATTERN GUIDE SERVICE SENT YOU. IT WILL HELP ME CONTINUE TO BRING CURRENT INFO TO YOU AND HELPS TO CATCHING MORE BASS.
