We left the dock this morning with the wind blowing NNE at 15 mph and it did not take long to increase to 20 mph and gusty. It was not an easy task finding clean water after the last two days of 20 to 25 mph winds from the northeast. After riding around and looking at dirty water, I decided to head out to the east side of Lafitte to try and find some kind of clean water we can cast a bait into. It is not easy catching Redfish in dirty water were you can not see a bait three inches deep. After a few stops with no success, I ran to the Port Sulfur area that is somewhat protected from the northeast wind. With a little luck we found a few pockets of clean shallow water that held some hungry Redfish looking for our black and chartreuse Bayou Chub minnows. We ended the day boating our limit of 15 Redfish and one lonely Flounder. As usual, we lost a few reds at the boat that managed to get off before we could get them in the net. For as windy as it was, it was a very successful day after all. New Orleans fishing at its best!
