Trout fishing opened on Saturday and is included in the many species available in this area. [Deer River,MN] You could just feel it coming. It was one of those periods where the fish were just biting too well. Walleyes, Perch, Bluegills and Pike were on a "hot bite" for a week. The action, especially over the weekend had kept steady in spite of high winds, cold water temperatures and heavy fishing pressure.

[Brainerd,MN] A massive cold front that swept through the Brainerd Lakes area had most anglers fixing deer stands or raking leaves. The anglers that did brave the wind and cold had minimal success battling the conditions, although some fish were caught. Before the cold front and during the full moon, the conditions were very favorable and had many anglers trolling crankbaits.

[Deer River,MN] The window of opportunity opens and closes quickly when the weather turns cold and surface temperatures fall into the low fifties. The past week has been a fast transition starting with surface temperatures in what I'd call "prime Walleye fishing range" of 56 to 60 degrees and ending with temperatures in the 53 to 57 degree range.

[Brainerd,MN] The fall bite has been great. Gull has been the most consistent leading back into the summer, but some of the other lakes are starting to hit full stride. Other lakes that are worth trying are North Long, Edwards, and Pelican. Walleyes are biting on a variety of set ups. Lindy rigs and minnows, jigs and minnows, or trolling crankbaits are all producing decent action.

[Deer River,MN] Have you been waiting for the fishing reports to tell you that fishing has peaked before you venture out? Okay, the fishing is at or near its peak and it's time to venture out. There I said it. I know that there are still a lot of folks out there who'd disagree about the fishing being at its peak right now, but those particular anglers just haven't keyed in (so far) on the one detail that makes or breaks a fishing trip in the fall.

[Lake Superior,MN] Lake Superior is definitely packing in some warmer water on the from the Duluth piers out. You will find some surface temps near the Duluth entry in the low/mid 60's and driving out you can still find most surface temps to be in the mid 50's for quit some distance.
