The last two trips by Awesome Charters to the deeper reefs behind the 12 mile bank turned out to be very successful and we boated a lot of fish.
With the weather playing along nicely, and making use of local fishing knowledge and over 30 years experience by the two skippers, we managed to find a lot of great fish every time we went out.
In between the fish we caught and kept we also released a lot of juvenile red steenbras and smaller red stumpnose. All the anglers on board really enjoyed the experience and screams of joy was not an uncommon occurrence on the Awesome Charter boats as the one nice fish after the other was hooked, played and brought aboard.
On both days we managed our quota of red steenbras and red stumpnose, and filled the rest of the bag limits with a variety of other fish species like red roman, silver, hottentot, cape salmon and white stumps.
Awesome Charters is well known as a kid and female friendly charter company, and the joy on the faces of the youngsters landing fish in excess of 3 kg on light tackle and even on dropshot was a joy to behold.
