This is a great time to get some smallmouth bass fishing in. The Androscoggin and Kennebec Rivers have been hot with lots of smallies. Water levels are low thus concentrating fish. Tube jigs work well and small topedos also work for surface action. Be careful with rocks and logs. None of these hazards are marked. Use shallow water craft such as canoes or jon boats if possible. Eagle sitings have been numerous and fishing pressure light.
