6/4/09 One Salmon caught in the 10lbs class caught on the troll, by Mr john Bojtor of the UK fishing with his Gillie Mr Mike O'Dwyer, and if you want Mikes CV go to www.Loughcurrane.com and click Gillies/boat hire and just for the record Mr John Bojtor was fishing out of www.Lakelandshouse.com and all other boats failed miserably in their duties. Wind SW light to fresh with reasonable cloud cover. Amount of rainfall 6.0mm, max air temperature 12.2c. 7/4/09 It was a wild day on Lough Currane with a strong SW wind blowing and overcast with light rain for most of the day, but that didn't deter Mr Walter Rushe and his Gillie Mr Frank Donnelly of www.lakelandshouse.com from procuring a fine lightening fresh 9lbs Salmon and by 1pm they were back home because of the bad conditions, and just for the record they caught their Salmon on the troll and for the rest of we so called Anglers the least said the soonest mended. Amount of rainfall 17.6mm, max air temperature 11.8c. 8/4/09 There was one 8lbs Salmon caught on the troll on the south side going by the Table rock by Mr Liam Ellis of cork, plus there was a fine salmon caught on Lough Derriana by a guest fishing with his gillie Mr Roger Baker of www.Cloghvoola.com and just for the record, I got theses facts from Mr Neil O'Shea of www.oshealoughcurrane.com Wind light NNE this afternoon and bright and sunny all day until about 6pm the rain began to come in, amount of rainfall 10.5mm, max air temperature 13.0c. 9/4/09 Made a massive flood this morning with little to no wind and the same goes for the salmon. Amount of rainfall 17.6mm, max air temperature 11.7c.10/4/09 Two guests fishing with Mr Neil O'Shea and of www.Oshealoughcurrane.com caught a lightening fresh 8lbs Salmon on the troll going by the Majors point, and he was telling me that one of the other Gillies rang him to confirm that his client had caught his fish, and he replied of course he did, and I can't understand what you other Gillies are doing wrong,, and as you can imagine his colleague wasn't amused with his sense of humour, all I can say is no comment, plus there was one other Salmon caught on the troll by another angler fishing by himself. Wind was SE then veered NW and veered again into the W bright and sunny throughout the day and just for the record there was a good flood yesterday, which should improve the fishing. Amount of rainfall 2.95mm, max air temperature 9.5c.11/4/09 All quiet on all fronts on the Big Lake / Lough Currane and Upper Lakes, but to be fair, there was still a lot of dirt coming down the Commeragh River, but it was a different story on the famous butler pool and of WWW.Watervillegolflinks.ie where Mr Denis Collins caught a 9lbs Salmon on the fly, and just for the record Lough Currane was flat calm all day with heavy rain this morning but cleared up by this afternoon, amount of rainfall 5.6mm, max air temperature 11.1c. 12/4/09 Just one Salmon caught on the troll on the south side by Mr Rinehart. Lough Currane was flat calm until about midday, when it eventually came from the SE light to calm then veered SSW light to fresh with reasonable cloud cover. Amount of rain fall 12.3mm, max air temperature 11.9c. 13/4/09 There is a good reason for not ending last weeks report because today Mr. Bernd Rall of Germany, fishing with his Gillie Mr Michael O'Sullivan of Waterville Boats and @ lobsterb@iol.ie had a great catch of a 8.5lbs Salmon and finished the day off with a Specimen Sea Trout of 6 ¼ lbs, both were caught on the fly, and with the lake at a great height the fishing should get even better. Wind SW light to fresh with reasonable cloud cover. Well I may have ended this weeks report with a extra day, but with a catch like Bernd had who could blame me. Well that is all the news from your gillie and the Waterville fishery. No spin no Fly's just Facts.
