19/4/10 There was a fine 11lbs Salmon caught on the troll by Mr. Jack Freeney of Dublin and Waterville and for the rest of we amateurs no comment. Wind was all over the place in the morning, come the afternoon there was a nice Westerly breeze coming down the lake. Max air temperature 13.1c. 20/4/10 All the Waterville fishing headlines go to Mr. Axel Zurbrugge of Germany who caught a fine 11.5lbs specimen Seatrout with his Gillie Mr. Sylvester Donnelly and just for the record Mr. Axel Zurbugge is fishing out of the famous Butler Arms Hotel and @ www.Butlerarms.com Wind the same as yesterday. Max air temperature 13.1c. 21/4/10 Axel was in good form again with a fine 10lbs salmon caught on the troll with his Gillie Mr. Sylvester Donnelly and on the evening shift Mr. Richard Blacke fishing with his Gillie Mr. Sean Brain and of www.kbfishingirwland.com caught a fine 10lbs salmon on the troll, and in the fly department all quiet on the SW front. Wind SSE light with reasonable cloud cover. Max air temperature 13.6c. 22/4/10 All quiet on all fronts. Wind SSE light to calm with bright sunshine all day. Max air temperature 12.4c. 23/4/10 There was some great action on Lough Currane today, I will start in the salmon department, first in the striking zone was Mr. Rob Wasmuth of the UK and Waterville who caught a fine 8lbs Salmon on the troll with his Gillie Mr. Michael O'Sullivan of Waterville Boats and @ Watervilleboats@gmail.com also in good form was local Gillie Mr. Bob Priestley who caught a 10lbs Salmon on the troll on the south side, but catch of the day goes to Mr. Clancy he caught first 4lbs Grilse in the morning and finished the day off with a fine Seatrout of 5lbs5oz. Fishing with his Gillie Mr. Sean Brain of www.kbfishingireland.com Wind S light to fresh with reasonable cloud cover and taking of cloud cover there are signs there is rain on the way which will be no harm, because Lough Currane is in need of liquid refreshment. Max air temperature 14.3c. 24/4/10 there was a good SE wind blowing across Lough Currane which made for good fishing, and they say the early bird catches the worm, well Mr. Dominic MC Gillicuddy was a perfect example of that when caught a 7lbs Salmon on the troll before 9am this morning, and come one o'clock the heavens opened with light rain for the rest of the afternoon. Amount of rainfall 9.4mm, max air temperature 13.6c. 25/4/10 There was a fine Salmon caught on the fly by Mr. Ken Towner of the UK and Waterville, Ken was fishing with his gillie Mr. Vincent O'Sullivan and of www.Vincentsfishing.com and in the Seatrout department a guest fishing out of www.lakelandshouse.com caught a fine Seatrout of 3lbs on the troll with his Gillie Mr. Mike O'Dwyer and @ Mikegdwyer@gmail.com Wind WSW light with reasonable cloud cover, amount of rainfall 1.7mm, max air temperature 15.1c. 26/4/10 In the past few weeks I failed to inform all my readers that our Manger Mr. John Murphy resigned as Manger of the Waterville Fishery development Group and on behalf of all the members we wish him luck, now for the good news, I am pleased to inform you that Mr. Trevor Stafford is the New manger for the Waterville Fishery development Group and on behalf of all the members and the good people of Waterville, we wish him good luck in his new appointment and just for the record here are some facts on our New Manger, Trevor has a degree in environmental science and qualifications in Aquatic Science, Trevor has also worked for the Central Fishery Board for a number of years and going by what I have heard, he is highly thought of, in that department, plus he worked with his Father Mr. James Stafford who is the manger of the Erriff Fishery, and also worked at Delphi as a Guide and the way he handles a fly rod I am not surprised and all I can say is their loss is Waterville's gain. That is your ration from your Gillie and the Waterville Fishery. No Spin No Fly's just facts.
