19/1/09 again very stormy and in the words of our manger Mr john Murphy ESQ and of WWW.loughcurrane.com fishing virtually impossible and there is no argument to that with a strong WNW wind blowing. Amount of rainfall 12.3mm. 20/1/09 Better fishing day, but my Noble Salmon were on a different wavelength to we the Angler. Wind NW light to fresh with heavy showers plus the odd bit of thunder. Amount of rainfall 9.4mm, max air temperature 7.3c. Kerry may have lost the 2008 All Ireland football Championship, but retired SWRFB Fishery officer Mr Jerry Looney put things to right when he caught the first Salmon in Ireland in 2009 on the troll, on the middle Lake in Killarney Co Kerry so congratulations to him on a great achievement and just for the record these facts and photos are curtsey of www.cfb.ie 21/1/09 The same as yesterday except there was no thunder and sadly there was no crack out on the lake be it on the fly or troll. Amount of rainfall 23.9mm, max air temperature 11.7c. Yesterday kingdom of Kerry had the distinction of catching the first Salmon in Ireland of the 2009 season well today Mr Tony Mc Cormack had the distinction of catching the first Salmon on the river Laune, so congratulations to him. And once again the photos and facts are curtsey of WWW.cfb.ie 22/1/09 Just one or two boats out all drew a blank. Wind first thing this morning fresh to strong but come this afternoon the lake was flat calm and overcast. Amount of rainfall 6.1mm, max air temperature 11.2C. 23/1/09 there was just one boat out and all I can say is no comment. Wind W light with the odd light shower. Amount of rainfall 4.0mm, max air temperature 7.8c. 24/1/09 nice few boats out all drew a blank. Wind SW for the majority of the day then veered SSE early this evening with heavy showers and strong gusts, amount of rainfall 20.5mm, max air temperature 8.7c. 25/1/09 just a few boats out manipulating but alas my noble salmon weren't in a taking mood. Wind NW fresh to strong. Amount of rainfall 11.1mm, max air temperature 8.9c. To put a Shine on to the poor start of the 2009 season I was listening into a Gillie's conversation with a potential client and he told him the price, for a days fishing and said you can forget the tip because of the recession, needless to say the next day the Gillie was out by himself. Well that is all the news from your Gillie and the Waterville Fishery. No Spin No Fly's just facts.
