The fish habitat improvement of almost over, the rumor is the work will be completed by Tuesday the 22nd. We haven't heard when the river will return to the normal flows, or when they will let us into the newly refurbished area.

The fish are eating gray and olive midges well in shallow waters, especially over weed beds. I have been fishing very light to no weight with my indicator about a foot or two above my flies. You will see more fish eat your flies than will move your indicator, sight fishing at its best! Keep changing your midges as the fish will get wise to you quickly, dark gray has been my best the last few days. The baetis hatch is off the hook!!! Try fishing small gray or olive baetis nymphs from 1:00 to 5:00 in the faster water. It is some of the best dry fly fishing of the year! The water during the week will be turbid to very turbid. We have been doing well with peach eggs, black leeches and red or orange larvae. The fish are eating well but they may be tough closer to Texas Hole. Try fishing from Simone Canyon down river where the river has cleared up some. Or above the construction where the water will still be clear. Friday through Sunday they are not working in the river. The water will be low and very clear. Everything that is through the rest of this report has been the same during this time. The water is just slower which means lighter bites. Be on your game! Good luck to all the Fisheads out there.
