Night Fishing On Smith Lake, Alabama

I hit the water around 6:15pm on Monday night. It was my first time in several week for me to go out at night. I've been waiting for more fish to start showing up before I start taking late afternoon-night trips. What I found last night wasn't mind blowing, but it was better than a couple weeks ago. We started on a light by Mallard point that had several fish ranging from 5-15 pounds and hooked up as soon as we got there. I dropped a spoon and hook a good fish, but it ran me under the dock and into a cable and wrapped me up. After trying to work the fish free, it broke me off after about 6 minutes of rubbing and running. Right as I broke off me friend hooked up and had the same thing happen. We saw his fish make a quick run and wrap him in the light. By that time we decided we had scared them off, so we headed to our next light. We stopped at about six lights throughout the light. Three of the six had fish on them. No monster groups or any real big ones, but we caught two off each of the other lights before spooking the fish. We caught all our fish on live bait and spoons, with spoons catching the most. I wish we would have made it out on the water before sunset and been able to fish the first hour of darkness. All have a map on the light we fished below, by this evening.
