I floated a few days ago with friends on a scouting mission, the first on of the year. We were the only one's on the water all day. The Wild and Scenic Smith River is a place like no other on earth. The water was running green and fast and we were on the move. Single passing everything on a fast roll, we managed to hook into three red hot winter steelhead in a half day of fishing. Not bad for the scouting trip, with more trips planed in the near future.

This trip is not for everyone. No heaters, class III /IV whitewater, and I will fish you hard...But if you are a diehard steelheader this is the best trip around!

I invite you to spend a day with me on my favorite stretch of winter steelhead water.
