t has been a week of UP's and downs for the St Johns River Bass Fishing. Again this week we have had a mix of trips both shiner and artificial. Each shiner trip produced nice fish weight between 7 1/2 and 10 pounds but the average was only about five fish per day. If you are hunting for Trophy Bass during this time of the year that is not a bad day in my book.

The artificial fish finally got going today 3/09/2010 and it was non stop action for the full 8 hr trip. I had Damon and his future brother in law Derrick that is in town from CO for this great trip. The morning started off with a steady rain until around 10 am then the sun came out and the fish went crazy. These guy's caught 25 bass between 3 and 6 1/2 pounds on Bitters Ship Shads on a main river shellbed. Non stop schooling action all day long. Derrick caught the biggest fish of his life today weighing 6 1/2 and we seen plenty of bigger fish busting shad all afternoon. The shad were thick today and that is something we haven't seen in a few weeks here on the St Johns River the past couple weeks. This steady action will continue until Mid June when the shad run is over.
