VINTAGE PENN SURFCASTING REEL

This is the model 156 from Penn - a small surf casting reel.  It features the Penn Star Drag, a Torpedo Handle, Free-Spool and Loud Clicker.  The face-plate bears the raised inscription: "Penn - No-155 - Made in USA - Pat'd.  It has a plastic spool.  The other plate has a raised surf scene with lighthouse. 

I grew up fishing the surf from Maine to Cape Cod and these were very popular reels that were to be found on every beach.

I rate this reel very good both mechanically and cosmetically.  There are no serious scratches or dents and all parts are in good order.  Though no longer in production, parts for this reel can be found from Penn or just about any good bait and tackle shop on the coast.

This one is ready to take to the surf or to add to your collection of surf reels.
