With July almost gone and the nights actually getting cool again, the prospects for a good August bite are bright. The walleyes never seemed to leave the inner bay at any point this summer. Oh, they have been moving around more lately, but never so far out of reach that a simple change in water depth one way or the other and your right back into them.

And you gotta love the fact that cranks have been the ticket for number all season so far. Dave's Winning Streaks (see the picture) have been especially good lately. I've also had recent reports of bigger fish out near the end buoys in deeper waters, with both meat and plastics doing an equal job of catching them. I'm hoping as the waters slowly cool with these cooler nights, that these bigger fish work their way in closer and shallower. Posting some pictures of my last 3 trips and waiting for any of you hopefuls to give me a call about a few of the August charter dates I have left. Report back soon. Be safe, fish smart and tight lines.

Capt. Dan.
