Tampa bay 10/21/07

Got out this morning with Billy Turney, we fished the south shore of Tampa Bay. We decided to toss arti's instead of doing the whole bait thing, plus more time to fish! We started on a shallow flat pitching chug bugs to the mullet schools in a matter of 30 minutes we boated about 20 trout all shorts. We did see a school of reds but they were moving fast and couldn't catch up to them without spooking them out. We headed to another flat that was a bit more protected from the wind and there was a school of something busting up a school of bait! Big blues! we got one and they were gone. We continued the drift, tossing at big sand holes and it began, the onslaught of GATOR TROUT! On 12 consecutive casts I caught 12 trout the smallest was 14 1/2" and the biggest 23", most were 17 "to 20". If this is any indication of what is to come for winter it should be awesome! The weird catch of the day, aside from the usual gull, a fat 12" snapper on a topwater plug
