This is important to the Bull Red Fish for their move into the shallow Emerald Green waters of Northwest Florida. The best tide for the spawning fish is an incoming tide late evening and into the night. You can catch these fish as they school up around the Passes on just about anything. Please handle these fish with care; I see dead fish every day where the fish was not handled correctly. I'll mostly use lead-head jigs with grub tails (the single hook is easy to remove – especially when the barb has been filed off) and I like Big Bite saltwater baits fortified with bite juice, the Shrimp Core six inch BioBait Jerk Minnow has been one of the best baits for me lately. These Red Fish can't resist them; I'll rig them with just hook for top water action, and up to a two ounce jig head if I'm drifting the pass trying to find them in thirty foot of water, or if we need to make a long cast.
For the traditional fishermen, work either incoming or outgoing tides. anchor up on either shoal (East or West) of any of the three passes, East Pass in Destin, Pensacola Pass or Perdido Pass; Carolina rig a thirty pound outfit and drop down a crab, finger mullet, menhaden or just about anything that will stay on the hook and wait, I guarantee you won't be disappointed. There are lots of fish out there and lots more moving in every-day!
There's lots of fish to catch in the Bays also; last Wednesday the wind was blowing a steady fifteen and gusting to twenty-five out of the east, we fished Pensacola Bay and caught a nice variety of fish, Speckled Trout, White Trout, Mangrove Snapper, Grouper, Ribbon Fish, Red Fish, Flounder and Black Sea Bass. We were using live Shrimp Carolina rigged and a half ounce lead-head jig with a four inch BioBait shrimp in the natural color.
November fishing is FANTASTIC in Northwest Florida, so if your all keyed up about the economy and the election, turn off those cell phones and televisions, cut loose and go fishing--- it'll do ya good!!
My advice is, go fishing often, and kill no more than what you are going to eat and do it in the most scientific manner!
I know one thing for sure - You ain't going to catch'em sittin' on the couch!!
