The water temp is still in the mid 60's and the shiner fishing is unreal. I had Chris and Christen Lewis out for a full day today to start their Vacation to Florida off right. Chris will have to deal with getting out fished all week as today Christen was 8 for 10 on shiner bites with the three biggest fish weighing over 20 pounds. I will take some blame on Chris's behalf as he did have the fish of the day hooked and I was about 6 inches a way from lipping this fish that was well over 10 pounds when it jumped and pulled off.The big fish are under big grass matts in the main river and eager to hit a wild shiner all day long. I still have all of May open and as I have been saying in past reports May is my favorite month of the year to fish the St Johns River.
