Fishing along Florida's space coast has slowed down considerably reports Captain Keith Mixon(www.mixinworkwithplay.com). Wind, rain and unusually cold temperatures have limited the access to some prime fishing spots along the flats this past week. However, this has not stopped some fish from biting a hook. In areas around the "thousand" islands redfish up to 18 inches have been caught along the channels and drop-offs using a chuck of mullet or ladyfish. Redfish have also been caught in protective waters between spoil islands when wading in one to two feet of water during mid day. In addition, black drum have been caught near the bridge in the Haulover canal around Titusville. Shrimp or cut bait have worked well when fished on the bottom. The average weight of these fish has been two to three pounds.
