This is from Wikipedia: Canyon Lake is one of four man-made reservoirs that were formed by the damming of the Salt River in the U.S. state of Arizona. The lake was formed by the Mormon Flat Dam, which was completed in 1925 after two years of construction. Canyon Lake, with a surface area of 950 acres (380 ha), is the third and smallest of four lakes created along the Salt River. Two others, Apache Lake and Roosevelt Lake are upstream. The fourth, Saguaro Lake, is downstream. Canyon Lake lies approximately 15 miles (24 km) up the Apache Trail from Apache Junction, Arizona and 51 miles (82 km) east of Phoenix. It is within the Superstition Wilderness of Tonto National Forest and is a popular recreation area for the Phoenix metropolitan area. Recreation amenities include hiking trails, camping, and boating, all managed by the United States Forest Service. Also, you can indulge yourself with a historic sightseeing tour of the lake and surrounding canyons aboard the Dolly Steamboat. Mogollon Rim Fishing Trip July 2008 Father and son trip up to the Mogollon Rim to do a little fishing, 4-wheeling, hiking and hanging out. Willow Springs Lake was a mob scene by 9:30 a.m. so we went offroading and had a little lunch on the Rim and did some hiking. We headed to Bear Canyon Lake and got caught in a summer monsoon. Our Lake Isabella Ca.Fishing Derby 08 trip - Bratacus This is our 2008 fishing derby trip. We stayed in the Lake Isabella motel and didn't camp, though our friends did. I'm very thankful to my Mother for purchasing the motel rooms, because we have all stayed at the lake the last 4 years camping out. This year we even had SNOW, Sleet, and of course the Rain we usually get with this event. Anyhow, I hope every one had fun, I know we tried to with the weather as it was. 5th year fishing and I still have not caught one fish, not to mention no Money fish either...I will not be returning to this event for overnight stays, though I might take a day trip up and fish from where I can get my wheelchair.
