Right Whale sighting at mouth of Cape Fear River April 25, 2009 The location of the sighting was from approx 20 ft elevation on Bald Head Island near the mouth of the Cape Fear River. I first noticed the dark object approx 1/4 mile upriver in front of a small motorboat. I did a doubletake and realized it was a marine animal. I then realized it was a whale and retrieved my small video camera. By the time I had my camera, the boat had followed the whale near the mouth of the river.
