The Cape Fear
A series of photos I have taken along the Cape Fear river in Wilmington, NC. This is the first video editing I have done, so its not spectacular or anything, I just wanted to share some of the scenes with people that may be interested. Don't ask my why I chose the music I did, it was just the mood I was in at the time, and I hadn't heard that song in a long time. Hope you enjoy, but don't expect too :P

The Cape Fear

Where the Cape Fear flows. (Wilmington, USS North Carolina)
In July of 2006 BSA Troop 157 paddled from Erwin to Wilmington, 150 miles, on the Cape Fear River. Five days from the start our trip was over. Our plan to paddle to the Atlantic Ocean was hampered by strong currents and a stiff head wind. We abandoned our plan but were still rewarded for our efforts by a beautiful lady with a rich and gallant history. Our trip was over, but our journey continues. Travel there and you will find rest for your soul.

Where the Cape Fear flows. (Erwin to Fayetteville)
In July of 2006 BSA Troop 157 paddled from Erwin to Wilmington, 150 miles, on the Cape Fear River. This is the beginning of that trip. We started out with 18 people full of energy and ready for what ever came our way. We planned to paddle for 7 days with our journey ending at the Atlantic Ocean. A twist of fate changed our plans and hurled us on a journey we would never forget. It was the adventure of a lifetime!

Where the Cape Fear flows. (Elizabethtown to Riegelwood)
In July of 2006 BSA Troop 157 paddled from Erwin to Wilmington, 150 miles, on the Cape Fear River. After leaving half the crew at Elizabethtown on the third day, only the truly determined survived. Catching our second wind, we carried on our way. We had to make too long portages at Lock 2 and 1. Luckily at Lock 2, we had some great help from the lockmasters in helping us make the move. At Lock 1 however, we were not so lucky and had a very long portage in nearly 100 degree temperatures. Our reward was to hug a bag of ice we got from a near by campground.

Where the Cape Fear flows. (Fayetteville to Elizabethtown)
In July of 2006 BSA Troop 157 paddled from Erwin to Wilmington, 150 miles, on the Cape Fear River. After three days and 66 miles, half of the 18 that originally started the trip abandoned ship at Elizabethtown. It is regret for the things we did not do that is inconsolable.

Where the Cape Fear flows. (Riegelwood to Wilmington)
In July of 2006 BSA Troop 157 paddled from Erwin to Wilmington, 150 miles, on the Cape Fear River. On day 5 riding the outgoing tide and with the wind at our backs, we paddled 30 miles in 4 hours. The wind then changed and the tide rolled in and the last 5 miles into Wilmington took 4 hours to paddle. Those who endureth to the end shall be saved...
