Best Marriage Proposal EVER!!!!!
I have know my fiancée Tracey for over 14 years and wanted to propose to her in a very unique way. Tracey thought we were just going to the movies on a Sunday afternoon. Little did she know, I had rented the entire theater and filled it with 160 of our friends and family. I made it seem as though we were showing up a little late to the movie and went in to the theater after the lights had gone down and the movie trailers were already playing. This was done to keep her from recognizing anyone in the theater. What I had done was make an entire movie trailer that had actors portraying both Tracey and I at different times in our lives, both present day and in the future. After a few trailers played including one for Lord of the Rings the one I had made started. Tracey thought it was just another trailer for a movie soon to be released. Tracey was just perplexed as to how many different things had similarities to our relationship, she kept nudging me throughout the trailer. Tracey had no idea this was a marriage proposal until the last three seconds of the trailer. Nine months earlier in September of 2006 I started by hiring a professional production team, securing two and a half million dollars worth of film equipment (THANK YOU PANAVISION), and writing a script that would show what would go through someone's mind (Tracey's) if they were about to die. It is said "moments before you die your life flashes right before your eyes". JUST A NOTE: Ever since Tracey was a young girl, she has had a reoccurring dream that she was going to die in a plane crash. Actors were cast to portray both Tracey and I at different times in our lives (twenty years in the future as well as present day). The explanations of the flashbacks are as follows: HORSE JUMPING - Tracey has been an avid equestrian her entire life, both competing and teaching professionally. The location that we filmed, was the exact location Tracey won in, back in 2006. DODGER STADIUM - Tracey and I have season tickets to the Dodgers. We both grew up in L.A. and are big baseball fans. SKYDIVING - On Tracey's fathers 70th birthday we both went skydiving for the first time. The plane in the trailer is the same plane we jumped out of in real life. The actress portraying Tracey even wore the same jumpsuit. KITE FLYING - This was filmed in the exact location Tracey and I have flown a kite before. FISHING - When Tracey and I fell in love; we were down in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. One of our greatest memories in Mexico was chartering a boat and going marlin fishing. In the movie trailer both actors were wearing the exact same clothes, both Tracey and I were wearing when we went fishing. As a side note this scene was actually shot on location down in Cabo San Lucas. RUNNING ON THE BEACH - Tracey and I had one of our best days ever on this exact beach near San Diego. SAILING - I own a sailboat. Both Tracey and I love sailing. The exterior shot was not my boat, but the closes up shots were actually filmed on my sailboat. AIRIAL SHOT OF BEACH AND HOTEL - This was the actual place we stayed in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. It is our very favorite place. Tracey always thought I might one day ask her to marry her there. PROPOSAL LOCATION - Same hotel as mentioned above. This one area at the hotel was our very favorite spot. SHE SAID YES!!

Kite Fly of the Children's Museum of the East End
To create a children's museum: a magical and inviting place for young people that would stir their curiosity and imagination. In this quickly moving world of technology, children's museums give families an opportunity to slow down and actively share in their children's growth. These wonderful places of discovery are designed to provide interactive experiences that foster curiosity in children and create a lifelong love of self-directed learning. The Children's Museum of the East End (CMEE - we pronounce it "see me") was formed to make this dream a reality. In 1997, CMEE launched a pilot project exhibit to gauge community interest in a children's museum on the East End of Long Island. The exhibit was built with the volunteer efforts of many talented carpenters, artists, and educators, and the generous support of local businesses and families. In just fourteen weeks at Guild Hall Museum in East Hampton, a record-breaking five thousand people visited the exhibit and supported the belief that the East End needs a children's museum. The 10,000 square foot facility was designed by Lee H. Skolnick Architecture + Design Partnership. This team has created over fifty children's museum projects throughout the country and is responsible for the outstanding design of the pilot project. Also contributing to the project was renowned landscape architect Edmund Hollander. Interactive exhibits are both permanent and rotating. The permanent exhibit focuses on what makes the East End a special place, with an emphasis on the people and living creatures who inhabit it. Themes include agriculture, fishing, world celebrations, and community. In addition to the indoor activities, visitors are encouraged to explore outdoor exhibits, mazes and gardens. There is space for year-round workshops, performances, and special events, as well as a permanent art workshop for children to explore their own creativity. 93: MS Beluga SkySails, BoatTest Reports, Fuel Saving Tips
First up, let's see what's making waves in Nautical News... The MS Beluga SkySails uses a computer controlled kite to help carry it across the water. On a windy day the kite will provide up to 35 percent of the vessel's power. Designers hope the kite will help the shipping industry "go green." Next up, it's time for our BoatTest Reports Feature of the Week when this week we'll take a look at the Baja Performance 278. Now, in Did You Know... The pain at the pump is even more painful for boat owners. Fuel prices at marinas nationwide are well over $3 a gallon. But what if you don't want to stay in port? Frank Sargeant of The Tampa Tribune shared his fuel-saving tips that will hopefully leave you with some extra cash in your pocket once you get back to the dock. And finally today, it's time to reveal Stacey's TheBoaters.com Sealebrity Profile Pick of the Day, which is: Nate Terry and his 20 foot Fisher, the Beer Monster! http://TheBoaters.TV airs every M, W & F and is available on iTunes. The Schumin Web: Virginia Beach 2005 (Kite close-up)
On the way in, I noticed a large kite being flown. It was actually six kites connected together to act as one, each with its own tail. Its owner was flying it around a bit. I even got a movie. Then the owner accidentally crashed it. He sent his kids out to get it flying again. This movie shows the six-part kite in action as seen close up. The camera pans to follow the movement of the kite.

He and fellow crewmember Ian Fisher move deftly about the deck as they prepare to launch one of the world's only kite-propelled boats. A gentle breeze sways palm trees overhead. "We really picked the perfect day to go out," Tracy says. The two-member crew works in a harmony born of more than 100 launches, some more successful than others. "At first it was a lot of trial and error, but now we can launch successfully every time," Fisher says. Gone from their boat is the mast—a requirement of all sailboats dating back centuries. In its place stands an apparatus looking like a gigantic fishing reel. It's a winch designed to steer a hefty kite, like those used for kite boarding. The system takes about five minutes to set up, while a mast can require an hour and a half. The kite's height above the boat allows it to catch wind that's often stronger and steadier than that nearer to the water's surface. Once overhead, the kite lifts the boat slightly out of the water, providing a much smoother ride than traditional sailboats. The boat can gain speeds of up to 16 knots. But Tracy and Fisher want more than just a comfortable ride. "A typical trip uses only one-eighth to one-sixteenth a gallon of gas," Tracy says. They burn fuel only to move in and out of the harbor. Tracy's been sailing since he was a kid. The idea for the kite-boat came to him in 2004, when he bought an 18-foot Hobie Cat catamaran. "After I bought the Hobie Cat I realized I didn't want to use the mast," he says. "It was a big hassle to set up, and on the water it wasn't very comfortable. It could have flipped really easily." Tracy, an avid kiteboarder, started asking around to see if there were any kite systems available for boats. "Once I found out there weren't any, I decided to develop my own," he says. "I wanted to be able to go out and catch fish." Now they do just that. Not more than 20 minutes into the trip, Fisher spots the telltale dip of one of the fishing poles. Seconds later a small Mahi comes writhing onto the deck. "This one needs to go back," Fisher says as he carefully removes the hook. The late morning sun shines off the water and onto Fisher's face as he recasts the line into the water. Last month, when he and Tracy wrestled a 20-pound Ono aboard their vessel, they became the first in the world to catch their dinner while trolling on kite power. The event claimed them a spot on a local news broadcast. Eventually, Tracy and Fisher envision cargo ships propelled by kites and solar power, drastically reducing global greenhouse gas emissions. They hope to be traveling inter-island routes by the end of this year, and plan to circumnavigate the globe within the next five. In Hamburg, Germany, the company SkySails is moving in the same direction. Since 2001, they've been retrofitting barges, superyachts and fishing trawlers with kites as a supplement to gas powered engines. According to their website the system can reduce a ship's fuel consumption by up to 50 percent. Back on Maui, Tracy and Fisher are gaining friends in high places. The two recently received a letter from U.S. Senator Daniel Akaka (D, Hawai'i), congratulating them on their work developing a new sustainable technology. Naish, Fiberglass Hawaii and others have signed on as sponsors. Now, as the trimaran pulls back into Kahului Harbor, curious fishermen and onlookers dot the shoreline. "This is the only boat like this in the world," Tracy says from the winch platform. It's looking like that will change very soon.

Basic Kite / Layang-layang Sederhana
This is my first hand-made kite, which is a basic one. It is a very effective kite and flies really well, even in a very light wind condition. With the right wind, it can dance to the right and the left and dive downward then upward by itself. The frame is made out of bamboo sticks and fishing line. The skin is made of red transparent cello gift wrap.
