streams-and-dreams We love to go here in the spring to unwind; get away from busy city crowds. We go here for fishing along the Youghiogheny River right out the back door. Near Deep Creek Lake in Western Maryland, we're right in the middle of the great outdoors. The youghiogheny is just a few steps out the bedroom door. Amazing breakfasts... WOW! Poor girls tournament- 187 lb bluefin tuna August 14,2008 Amanda fishing with my mom Carol and other female anglers Liz, Anne, Lynn. Fished on the Yellowfin, Capt. Chuck and mate Jimmy. This fish took an hour and 50 minutes to bring in. Lots of blisters, bruises and tears. We missed making the weigh in by 30 minutes missing out on the winning for the tournament. We hooked the fish at 2:37 and landed at 4:27 and were 70 miles offshore- we got in the inlet at 7:25, but sat at the bridge till 8pm. We had to be there by 7:30. But it was an awesome fight and a great story and we have lots of fish to eat!!! Views: 747 Rating:

The Lucky Dragon Incident This award-winning Maryland History Day documentary, by Lauren White, portrays the fate of the Lucky Dragon, a Japanese fishing vessel that was accidentally showered with radioactive ash from a 1954 U.S. hydrogen bomb test in the Marshall Islands. The incident and its effect on subsequent events led to a worldwide compromise that changed the course of the arms race in the midst of the Cold War. White conducted research at the Peace Resource Center at Wilmington College, Ohio, as well as at the National Archives, the Library of Congress and various television and radio archives.
