Big Redfish on R&R -Sabine Lake Texas I was filming a TV segment I use to do called Hometown Outdoors for NBC in Beaumont Texas. I did a weekly "outdoor report" where we would hit different lakes and coastal waters highlighting the area and the guides. On this segment, I hooked up with a huge Redfish up in the Sabine River....we thought I had shattered the freshwater redfish record, but found out later it was considered brackish water, not fresh. Unknown Visitor (Revised) After the flood waters from Hurricane Ike began receding, we noticed a strange visitor at our front door. The storm surge from Hurricane Ike brought water from Sabine Lake through the streets of the southeast Texas town of Bridge City. Alligators, snakes and marine life were everywhere.
