Shark Fishing June 21st 1978 June 21st,1978 (First Shark Trip on the Sundance) Bruce Miller (Gypsy Shark), Stan Kakonis, Lee Fisher (Penna Railroad), Dom Bizzari and Charley Stone. Leave 5:45 AM. Ran 099 degrees for 25 miles from LE Bell to 125 ft depth by 9:15 AM Weather clear, seas 1 - 2, wind less than 10 75 lbs of chum, 40 gallon barrel of Mackerel, Bunker, Pickerel & Squid (Ham & Eggs). Bruce firing his 357 Magnum at what I don't know. Kakonis shooting sharks with Charley Stone's shot gun and Bruce firing a 22 rifle into the water to attract sharks. Good thing we didn't have the gun laws then as we have today. Landed 14 sharks and lashed them to the gunwale's, on the bow and on the transom. A 163 lb Mako, 90 lb Blue and 12 Browns & Duskies. Failure to run a charted course back brought us in several miles south of AC. These were the days before Loran was affordable to the pleasure boating crowd and long before GPS. All navigation on this trip was "Dead Reckoning". Didn't arrive at Skinners until 9:00 PM and had only fumes in the gas tanks. Quite a sight coming up Tuckerton Creek with 14 sharks lashed to the boat. Several people were sitting out to watch the sight. Views: 230 Rating:
