Patrick's Fly Fishing Adventures in Virginia IV I continue to explore the fantastic rivers of Virginia. In September, I took a trip to Mossy Creek (public stretch) - which was incredibly hard work but rewarding. I then explored the upper reaches of the Alma access on the South Fork Shenandoah to catch the end of season for Smallies. With trout season upon us in Western Virginia, I headed out for some 'urban' fishing on the South River (Waynesboro) - and some wild Brook trout fishing on the Rapidan in the Shenandoah National Park. Patrick's Fishing Adventures in Virginia Pt III In search of Smallies on a fly rod. Fishing the Rappahannock, South Fork Shenandoah and the James Rivers. Throw a big Catfish into the bargain, and it was brilliant. I tried some experimental photography, basically risking my camera in a waterproof-ish bag - lovely pictures. Patrick's Fly Fishing Adventures in Virginia - Part V With the onset of autumn and nearing the end of my trip to Virginia, I focused back on the trout fishing. I visited some of the places I had looked at earlier on in the season and also looked to find some new places. Highlights of this trip included exploring the further reaches of the River Jackson (Hidden Valley) and hiking into some of the wild Brook trout fishing in Shenandoah National Park. I have had the opportunity to fish with the fly fishing author Steve Moore a few times, and for my last trip we headed out to fish the Rose River (SNP). rainbow trout fishing virginia Virginia is a great place to live for its variety and diversity of fishing and hunting. This little video is a favorite creek of mine where I am plunging nymphs on the fly rod in a Spring Creek. I have found that it is good to go when no one else wants to.
