Yesterday we launched the Launched the Laura-Jay and are about to kick-off another fishing season. The winter itch was getting pretty bad for a while there, but now we are in and ready to roll.

We are starting right off with Codfish season, as all reports coming in from Stellwagon are telling us there are lots and lots of cod and haddock taking both jigs and bait. We have 3 trips scheduled for this week, so we should be right in the thick of things in just a couple of days. Right now the cod are up on top of the Bank, so jigging is fun in the shallow water. We should have some specific reports and post up some pictures in a few days. There is a possibility that we may experiment with an open-boat Cod-Trip or two (Don and Jay have been debating this) – check back in or call for more information.

The first of the schoolie stripers have been showing in RI and parts of the Cape's south side. Last year we ran our first Bass charter on May 17th and had limits with upwards of 30 fish on deck – we anticipate the fish arriving on time this year as well (maybe even early with this warm weather). Memorial Day begins prime time as the Big Bass should be feasting on the spring mackerel run.

We plan on starting the Tuna trips a bit earlier this year. The tuna have come into Stellwagon and Cape Cod bay in impressive numbers in early June the last three seasons. We are planning to be rigged and ready for the first arrivals. Along with trolling and sight casting, we are also planning on running tuna trips dedicated to the "butterfly jigging" craze. We are outfitted with some of the new Van Staal Jigging Rods and Fin- nor Offshore Jigging Reels. This should be a lot of fun, as tuna on light tackle is a serious challenge.

As always, we want to thank our customers for having made the 2007 season such a success. We are really looking forward to getting out there in '08 and having another great year. Seeing our returning customers come back each year definitely gives us a sense of pride and satisfaction, and we look forward to meeting a lot of new friends this year too.

Good Luck out there,

Captain Don and the Laura-Jay Crew
