Crappie are starting to load up in the creek channels feeding up for the winter - crappie are suspended down around 9 to 12 feet deep in 14 to 16 foot of water and are biting Southern Pro Hot Grubs long line trolled on 1/16 oz jig heads. Good stringers are being caught right now using this technique but the cold front coming may push the fish a little deeper. This technique will only get better as we move into mid January as more crappie start moving up into the creek channels. Colors that are producing right now are Blue/Chartreuse - Popsicle and Orange Crush. If you are not setup to long line troll - crappie are also being caught up river around Riverside down to Three Mile Creek casting Southern Pro jigs around log jams. Work the back side of jams where current break is present. January should be some great crappie fishing on Weiss Lake this year so come on down. Lake level is slowly coming up with most all ramps usable now - still need to use caution on the lake while boating alot of shallow water with structure can ruin your day of fishing...Happy New Year and Good Fishin...

Thanks

Kelly
