21/6/10 It's the Hired out Boats, of Waterville Boats and @ Watervilleboats@gmail.com capture all the headlines today. Mr. Mertens Jan of Belgium, caught a 1.5lbs Sea trout and finished the day shift off with a 4.5lbs Grilse, all caught on the fly, and his Good friend, Mr Paul De Neef, caught two sea trout ranging from the Junior class up to 3.5lbs again all caught on the fly. In the trolling department Mr. Frank Donnelly of www.Lakelandshouse.com was telling me that he and his client caught just the odd Junior. Wind SW light with reasonable cloud cover at times, max air temperature 18.2c. 22/6/10 There was some fine action on Lough Currane today, I will start with the early shift, where the Prince was in good form, when he caught a fine Grilse and two Sea Trout both in the 2lbs class, all caught on the fly, with his gillie Mr. Vincent O'Sullivan and of www.Vincentsfishing.com staying with the grilse, in the trolling department, Mr. John Butler and his Father, from Kenmare, fishing with their gillie Mr. Vincent Appleby and of www.Salmonandseatrout.com caught a fine grilse and a sea trout all in the 2lbs class, plus they also lost two grilse, now to the drifting department, the Belgium fishing party, fishing in a hired out boat from Waterville Boats caught a 3lbs Sea trout, also in good form was Mr. Jim Sayers, with two Seatrout both in the 2lbs class. Wind SW light to fresh and overcast with the odd light shower. 1.1mm, max air temperature 18.6c. 23/6/10 All today's headlines go the fly department, and I will begin with the early shift, Mr Dona Mc McCarthy, of the USA and Waterville, caught two sea trout in the 2lbs class, Dona was fishing with his gillie Mr. Dominic Mc Gillicuddy, and in the late morning Dona resigned his fishing seat to Mr. Bill Rushby, and it wasn't long before he caught himself four Seatrout, ranging from the Junior class up to 2lbs class, now to the south side, in Copal, Mr. Walter Ruche caught a 5lbs grilse and finished the day off with two fine Sea Trout in the 2lbs Class, Walter was fishing with his Gillie Mr. Frank Donnelly of www.Lakelandshouse.com now we head for the drifting department, Mr. Frank Donnelly of Lakeland's also reported to me, that one of his hired out boats caught two Sea trout in the 2lbs class, on the evening shift, Mr. Padraic Coughlian from Tralee fishing with his good friend Mr. Phil Horan, caught a fine Sea Trout of 2.5lbs on a sparsely tied Watson, and staying with the evening shift, Mr. Ivor O'Connor of Ballinskelligs caught two fine Seatrout on the drift with his Gillie Mr. Sion Brain and of www.kbfishingireland.com and last but not least Mr. Terence Wharton Jnr was telling me that an Angler fishing on his own caught a fine fish but he didn't know if it was a Sea Trout or a Salmon. Wind SW light and overcast with the odd light shower, amount of rainfall 0.1mm, max air temperature 17.8c. 24/6/10 In the words of Mr. Jim Sayers, it was hard work out there, and it was hot, and it is a pity the same couldn't be said for the fishing, even though there was a 2lbs Sea Trout caught by a guest fishing with his gillie Mr. Michael O'Sullivan of Waterville Boats and @ Watervilleboats@gmail.com and that was Lough Currane's ration in the catching department, One guest fishing with his Gillie Mr. Terence Wharton lost a Salmon on the troll. Wind SW then veered SSW light to fresh with bright sunshine all day, max air temperature 18.4c. 25/6/10 Yesterday may have been slack, but at least some boats did see a bit of action today, I start in the trolling department, and first in the striking zone, with a 5lbs grilse were clients, Bob and his Son Mark, from Maine USA, they were fishing with their Gillie Mr. Bob Priestly, in the fly department, the Swiss flag was flying high for Mr. Walter Ruche when he caught a fine 5lbs Grilse on the fly, in the Commeragh, and finished the day off with 1.5lbs Sea Trout on the troll, Walter was fishing with his Gillie Mr. Frank Donnelly of www.lakelandshouse.com I asked Frank, what was his tip of the day, he replied, don't leave a good fishing spot, all I can say is, some tip. Now to the Sea Trout department, Mr. Michael Henry of France caught two fine Sea Trout on the fly, ranging from 2 to 3lbs, Michael was fishing with his gillie Mr. Vincent O'Sullivan of www.Vincentsfishing.com and just for the record Mr. Michael Henry is fishing out of www.Butlerarms.com Mr. Ralf Weder from Germany, also fishing out of the Butler Arms, caught a 1.5lbs Sea Trout, with his Gillie, Mr. Neil O'Shea of www.Oshealoughcurrane.com now to Mr. Patsy Quilligan fish Market, I say this because he caught 12 juniors, six on the fly and six on the troll, and on the evening shift an angler fishing in a hired out boat from www.Lakelandshouse.com caught five Sea trout up to 1.5lbs.Wind SW light to fresh and overcast with light rain coming in late this afternoon, amount of rainfall 6.6mm, max air temperature 19.6c. 26/6/10 Lough Currane saw some good action today,. and I begin in the Fly department, Mr. Judge Jean-Baptiste, fishing out of www.Butlerarms.com caught a fine 6lbs Salmon off the Holly island, with his gillie Mr. Terence Wharton, now to the trolling department, Mr. Ralf Weder of Germany, fishing out of www.Butlerarms.com caught a 6lbs grilse, with his Gillie Mr. Neil O'Shea of www.Oshealoughcurrane.com the A team were at it again, yes you have it Mr. Dan Sugrue of Tralee and Waterville, caught a fine Grilse on the troll with his Gillie Mr. Brod O'Sullivan of Stella Maris Guesthouse Waterville, now we head for the Sea Trout department, Mr. Michael Henry of France, fishing out of www.butlerarms.com again caught two Sea Trout in the 2 to 3lbs class, both were caught on the fly, with his Gillie Mr. Vincent O'Sullivan, and last but not least, Mr. Patsy Quilligan caught two Seatrout on the fly, both fish were just under the 2lbs. two German Angler's Mr. Ralf Weder and his is good friend Mr. Achin Heun up early to go fishing, and I can tell you it wasn't long before they were celebrating, because they caught a 5lbs grilse on the troll, with their Gillie Mr. Neil O'Shea of www.oshealoughcurrane.com and they finished the day off by giving England a good thrashing in the world Cup, so congratulations in both departments, staying in the grilse department, Mr. Michael O'Dwyer and @ mikejdwyer@gmail.com caught a Grilse on the early shift. In the Sea Trout department, Mr. Judge Jean-Baptiste of France, caught two Sea trout, ranging from 1.5lbs to 2.lbs, with his gillie Mr Terrance Wharton. Wind SW fresh to strong first thing, and light to fresh for most of the day, max air temperature 19.1c. My catch of the month so far goes to four Belgium Anglers, Mr. Paul De Neef, Mr. Jan Mertens, Mr. Danny Verbessem and Mr. Walter Van Doninck, because they caught between them,12 sea trout ranging from junior class up to 2lbs to 5lbs and in the salmon department they caught Four Grilse, ranging from 4.5lbs to 5lbs and Mr. Paul De Neef was telling me, they caught a lot of Brown trout, and considering the low water conditions they did fantastically well, and just for the record the were all caught on the fly and fishing out of Waterville Boats and @ Watervilleboats@gmail.com That is your ration for this week, from your Gillie/Guide and the Waterville Fishery.
