Rating: Cruxis 201 Better than expected

This reel is a cost reduced Curado ,some plastic parts and a bushing replaces one bearing,it performs so good that owners love them. Stuffed some BOCA bearings (noisy ceramic) in my Cruxis 201 and it outcast my STX. I like the larger size, it is now my most used reel.I toss a small Frog with it and it will cast a long distance.

When reeling the reel it seems to catch "click" once it reaches the right side of the wind gaurd. It clicks and then transistions just fine back to the left side of the reel. Has anyone else had this problem? I purchased two of these reels 5 years ago used them in Canada for pike and musky and they performed great. Went back June 2010, reels hadn't been used since prior trip and noticed the problem.

Bought one last week for use on small rivers. I target steelhead and salmon. Castability and smoothness are superb. The drag system is great. It casts a very light weighted bait without "bird nesting". I am very happy with this reel. I've fished Western Washington streams for 30+ years and this reel is a hit.

I catch big bass up to 9 pounds on this reel and the drag handles their first hard run without any problems.

I have had expensive Diawia reels and used other ones. I have a couple of Shimano Crestfire reels love those. Just got the Cruxis today, practiced in the yard. All ready love how smooth it is would give it a 5, but have not tested on the water yet. I love how smooth shimanos are.

I have always used Shimano 2500 size spinning reels in all saltwater fishing catching bull reds and huge drums, and after a year they are still working. My first baitcaster was an Abu Garcia and after 5 months it's not working anymore.I bought the Shimano Cruxis and it cast further and never bird nested,it's smooth and dependable.I'm sticking with Shimano reels, they havent let me down yet.

Bought this one on a whim as I had very little experience with multiplier reels.

Now I am in love with this reel. One has to really try to get a "bird's nest" while casting and as this is probably the foremost problem with multiplier reels I daresay that this reel is suitable for anyone not familiar with multis.

Its operation leaves nothing to wish for and can only be described as typically Shimano... extremely smooth and reliable.
